It is estimated that the demand for alumina ceramic substrates will reach 3.998 billion pieces in 2029!

As a high-performance ceramic material, alumina ceramics are widely used in extreme environments such as high temperature, high strength, high wear resistance, and high insulation due to their excellent physical and chemical properties. Its development history can be traced back to the end of the 19th century, and it has become one of the most popular oxide ceramics.

Alumina ceramics possess high hardness (Rockwell hardness HRA80-90) and wear resistance 266 times that of manganese steel and 171.5 times that of high-chromium cast iron, respectively. Under equivalent operating conditions, this material can significantly extend equipment service life by more than ten times. Furthermore, with a density of only 3.7-3.95 g/cm³, approximately half that of steel, this material significantly reduces equipment loads. With its combination of high thermal conductivity, excellent resistivity and thermal stability, and low dielectric constant, alumina ceramics have become an ideal material for the next generation of microelectronic devices and systems.

The ceramic substrate industry, a rapidly emerging sector, continues to expand globally, driven by demand from multiple downstream markets, including electronic components, photovoltaics, energy storage, electric vehicles, semiconductors, and machinery manufacturing. According to a report by Maximize Market Research, the global ceramic substrate market reached US$6.59 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach US$10.96 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 6.57%.

In recent years, with the continuous expansion of downstream applications, my country's alumina ceramic substrate market has also shown sustained growth. Production volume is projected to increase from 407 million units in 2011 to 1.495 billion units in 2022, and further to 1.987 billion units in 2024. Over the same period, demand is projected to increase from 347 million units in 2011 to 1.228 billion units in 2022, and to 1.639 billion units in 2024, representing a market value exceeding RMB 1.097 billion. Looking ahead, it is estimated that by 2029, my country's alumina ceramic substrate production will climb to 4.608 billion pieces, with an average annual compound growth rate of 17.45%; demand is expected to increase to 3.998 billion pieces, with an average annual compound growth rate of 18.37%.
